Reforest'Action becomes a member of the European Forest Institute

By becoming a member of the European Forest Institute, Reforest'Action intends to strengthen its dialogue with a variety of European forest stakeholders, including scientists. The aim is to continue to expand its work on the continent in the areas of forest restoration, afforestation and urban forests.

Amazon: Reforest'Action finances the development of edible forests among traditional populations

After an initial phase of setting up nurseries and identifying plots of land to be reforested, the Brazilian reforestation project financed by Reforest'Action and led in the field by the NGO Rioterra continued with the planting of 250,000 trees of 34 different native species, between December 2020 and February 2021, in 5 deforested and abandoned plots of land within the protected reserve of Rio Preto Jacundá.

Since 2017, Reforest'Action has been supporting the restoration of the Indonesian mangrove

In Sumatra, the project to restore the mangrove and protect the coastal green belt in the north of the island, funded by Reforest'Action since 2017, has just reached a new level in terms of trees planted. Since November 2020, 100,000 new mangrove seedlings have taken root as part of the project, bringing to 230,000 the number of trees planted since the beginning of the planting season. The aim of the project is to restore and extend the native mangrove forests of the Indonesian island in order to protect its coastline and secure the economic activities linked to it. Netherlands : a forest stand ravaged by bark beetles

In Markelo, a small town located in the province of Overijssel, east of the Netherlands, a forest plot attacked by bark beetles was successfully reforested. Thanks to our reforest’actors, the stand is now strengthened and composed of diverse hardwood and softwood species.

South Africa: reforesting the banks of the Breede and Berg rivers

This is one of the new forestry projects financed by Reforest'Action in 2021: led in the field by Breedekloolf Wine and Tourism, the reforestation of the banks of the Breede and Berg rivers, in the south-west of the country, will allow the restoration of an endangered ecosystem by fighting the invasion of exotic vegetation and planting 40 different endemic species.
